From Travis Bell, The Bucket List Guy
I’ve always loved helping people live their potential and yet my Personal Training business had burned me out.
I’ve always loved helping people live their potential.
And these days I’ve created a lifestyle that gives me a 6-figure income doing just that (and I’m set to double that income this year)… more importantly, I’m LOVING the new business and life I have created and I am 1000% congruent with my message and totally confident that, every day, I am living my purpose.
It’s a great feeling.
And yet, it wasn’t always this way…
For 15 years I’d run my own business, a Personal Fitness Training Franchise, where we helped people all over Australia get fit and healthy. We delivered close to 1 million personal training sessions and had a national network of franchisees.
There was just one problem.
I was burned out.
Over it.
I’d had enough of running that kind of business model, working harder and harder for fewer results and I realised I didn’t have a passion for it anymore. It slowly wore me down, taking it’s toll on me and the business, and I eventually made the difficult decision to close up shop.
As you can imagine, it was a tough time and I remember feeling really unhappy.
It brought me to a place in my life where I asked myself…
“What do you REALLY want to do, Trav?“
That’s when I started paying more attention to the personal development side of things… and I realised not only did I know enough about Personal Development, through my Personal Training days, life experience and all the courses I’d done, but I also loved it and knew that I wanted to be teaching something in that space.
So I put together a small seminar, during which I started talking about my “Bucket List”, which is all the things I REALLY wanted to do and have in my life.
At the end of it one of the participants called me “The Bucket List Guy” and that planted the seed of an idea that I really wanted to pursue.
I had no idea how to monetise it and I really needed help fleshing the concept out… and yet, I had this really deep feeling that this was it… this was the direction I wanted to go in.
That’s when I met Jeff & Kane.
I’d signed up to attend their Industry Rockstar Intensive event and, at first, I remember feeling angry with myself for buying yet another training program and I actually wasn’t in a great head space when I turned up at the training…
…and yet, within the first 2 hours I was totally blown away by their content and I knew I was exactly where I needed to be.
Jeff & Kane really have a global perspective that gives you the latest strategies and techniques for becoming a rockstar in your niche… and Jeff’s a pretty good surfer too!
The guys brought a global perspective on how it’s done, which I wasn’t aware of … in terms of what the big personal development and motivation speakers do on a world stage to grow their brands, make an impact and create income streams from their expertise – so they helped me get really clear on that.
I went on to to do a number of trainings with Jeff & Kane and, looking back, I can see that first event was the start of an incredible 12 months for me.
The guys have helped me isolate my niche and that’s been a massive breakthrough for me. I was thinking I had to teach business … and yet hardly anyone was doing personal development 101 – and I’ve become really clear over the last 6 months that I’m not the “Business Guy”, I’m the “Personal Development Guy” and that clarity has been really empowering.
Since then I have designed and run my first-ever Design Your Bucket List national tour, which was amazing and a great success. I used Jeff & Kane’s Industry Rockstar formula and was able to close 10 to 15% of the room, which is a great result and on par with many of the people who’ve been doing this for years!
I’ve also moved from an hourly fee basis, charging $250 an hour, to an ongoing monthly retainer basis of $2000 a month (this one change alone has had a significant impact on my income - going from a standing start to $120,000 in the first year . And I’m set to double that this year as more and more clients come on board).
I’ve also delivered Keynote addresses for up to $7000 for just a couple of hours work (again, using the techniques Jeff & Kane taught me for gaining speaking gigs) and I’m part way through my first book.
There’s a growing community of “Bucket-Listers” doing so many inspiring things – I LOVE it!
In addition, I’ve created an online community of amazing “Bucket-Listers” – people who are using my Bucket List methodology to really get the most from their lives and who are looking for some accountability to the Bucket Lists they’ve made.
And I’ve also been able to help a lot of people through the work I’ve been doing - people have changed jobs, moved back to their families, overcome depression, lost weight, run marathons, booked into crazy-arse events, started charities, refined their businesses – you name it!
It’s been an inspiration… and it’s only just getting started.

I’ve always had these ideas in my head, but I was stuck regarding what to do in terms of Step 1, Step2, Step 3 – and Jeff & Kane and their Industry Rockstar Formula have definitely helped me with that.
Just last week I had a conversation with an adventure travel agent to put together an idea I’ve been dreaming of to take bucket-listers on an international adventure.
One thing I will say… especially for anyone who, like me, has already done their fair share of trainings… it’s not all just a piece of cake.
They’d teach me something one day and then I’d go implement it the next day… action is key.
You’ve really got to put what Jeff & Kane teach you into action. I’d learn something from them and then the next day I would put it into action… and I’m really blown away with the results.
I’m loving helping people take their blinkers off, escape “Groundhog Day” and get stuck into crossing some of the things off their Bucket List (I’ve even got Jeff as a client!)
What Jeff & Kane have allowed me to do is step into The Bucket List Guy persona and own it a lot more. Whilst helping other people achieve theirs and, in the process, helping my live mine as well!
A month ago a reporter from a magazine emailed me from the US (thanks to Kane who helped me with my positioning myself as an expert) and she said… “I hear you’re the world #1 Bucket List expert”… and I answered… “Yes, yes I am.”
